HOT OFF THE PRESS - The M3 Marble loudspeaker

nOrh Loudspeaker introduces the M3. The M3 is an astonishingly beautiful and magnificent sounding loudspeaker.

The look and sound of these beauties surpasses everything in its class. While most people today are satisfied to put plastic speakers or contact paper covered chip board in their houses, nOrh Loudspeakers look like they belong in a museum. Each loudspeaker is carved from solid marble.

The sonic qualities of marble can not be debated. Marble adds now sound of its own. The sound is absolutely pure.

The M3 is now available for $500 USD per pair shipped to the USA. Please contact namphung <at> norh. com for information on other locations.

Marble Speakers

First of all, I want to tell everyone I am sorry for the few changes I have made in the newsletter over the past month or two. The reason is that I have been very busy traveling and working on projects for NorhTec. As some of you might know, Yuth injured himself working on his bicycle so that delayed some of our projects. However, this month, we have some announcements to make. Most of the work has been done by Yuth so I would like to congratulate him.

NorhTec was recently featured in the Thai version of Home and Garden magazine here in Thailand.  I hoped to get a copy of the magazine and put some of the pictures on the website.  I haven't been able to source the magazine yet.

Several years back, we attempted to the something completely crazy. We decided to build marble loudspeakers.  We were not the first to do this. Other companies have done this but we decided to create a shell out of solid marble that was carved from solid rock - not sheets that are put together.  The project was very complicated and the yields were terrible.  To build a Marble 9.0, it took about 1,000 pound of marble and then only about half of the cabinets survived as they would generally crack during the production.

After the dot.com bubble burst and September 11, the demand for our relatively expensive marble speakers dried up. We focused on producing lower cost systems which sold very well. Last year, we started getting requests for marble speakers again. It seems that some people had accidents with their speakers and needed replacements. Other people wanted additional speakers and then others had heard of them and wanted them. Getting back into production for marble was not easy. Building the speakers takes a lot of skill and with the low yields, most of the suppliers were just as happy to make less complicated products.

The first two projects were to put the marble 4.0 back into production and to introduce a new Marble 3.0. Previously we had a marble three but the design was unique. We decided to make a marble version of the drum for the nOrh 3.0.

As most you you who read this know, the 3.0s have become my primary speakers because I rarely make it out of my office.  I have put nOrh 3.0s everywhere in the house. My main system is a pair of 9.0 and my secondary system is a pair of 7.0s. Both of these are marble.  However, so that I can listen to music anywhere, I have put nOrh 3.0s everywhere.

The fact is, the nOrh 3.0s are amazingly musical.  If you don't play music extremely loud, the 3.0s sound very good. The 3.0s sound much better than the cheap speakers that come with just about any department store or single branded system I have ever heard. Now we have given the nOrh 3.0s the best cabinet possible.

These photos were taken the last day of May so we didn't have time to put them together. However, the photos will give you an idea of the quality of these speakers. Below is a photograph of the baffle. Remember, the baffle is made of solid rock.

The Le3 MonoBlock

We are taking orders for the Le3 Amplifier. The Le3 is a redesigned version of the Le Amp 2.  We are using a design similar to the original Stasis amplifiers. Each amplifier features a Class A gain stage and a Class A/B output stage.  We have now divided up the output devices so that half are on one side of the amp and half on the other. We are now using a very beefy transformer and we are using very good quality components throughout.

We are offering s special offer for anyone who already has a Le Amp 2 and wants to upgrade. Please write to yuths <at> norh. com for details.  For June, we will offer a limited price of $300.00 per unit shipped to the USA, Asia or Australia. Please write namphung <at> norh. com for a quote. On July 1, the price will be $395.00.

Please write for other locations. We do not cover import duties. The first units will be shipped in 30 days. We will charge customers 30% as a deposit and then add the additional 70% upon shipment. If we fail to meet the 30 day shipment, we will refund the 30% deposit. If orders are canceled before 30 days, then we will refund half of the 30% deposit.
