The nOrh 7.0 was nOrh Loudspeaker's breakthrough product. When we produced our first loudspeaker, we never considered that we would ever produce a loudspeaker that cost more than $1,000--let along $2,000.00. We knew we had a better idea for building loudspeakers but we simply didn't think that an unknown company from Thailand could break into the already crowded market. Our first loudspeaker was the nOrh 6.0, followed by the 6.5. These loudspeakers used Vifa drivers. The response was surprising. One customer told us that they liked our design and that he would pay for us to build a higher-end version of our speaker. He wanted us to use Scanspeak drivers. The drivers for the 6.5 cost about $250 USD per set. The Scanspeak drivers cost twice that amount. I expected some improvement but I wasn't prepared for the incredible sound we got out of our first nOrh 7.0. |

| The nOrh 7.0 received numerous reviews. Most of the reviews said that the nOrh 7.0 was one of the best sounding bookshelf speakers in the world. We initially offered the nOrh 7.0 as a kit. When we first started we simply didn't have the money to import large numbers of Scanspeak drivers. We quickly ran into a problem supplying the kits. Demand was beyond our ability to produce. We decided to phase out the kits and offer the 7.0s only as complete units. |

The wood version of the 7.0s quickly became our best seller. We got 15 perfect reviews on www.audioreview.com. Soon we were getting requests for upgrades. Some people wanted to use the 9700 tweeter. Others wanted to use the 9500. We even built some using the 9800 tweeter. We continued to have problems meeting demand for the 7.0. We looked for a wood substitute. We looked at resins and other materials commonly used for loudspeakers. We finally settled on marble as the material of choice. Marble was not the least expensive material or the easiest to use. It was however the best sounding/best looking material we could find. |

When we built the marble 7.0s, we were shocked by the improvement in sound. The bass improved. The imaging improved. The sound simply rose to a new level that we did not expect. We decided that the nOrh 7.0 marble should be the best version of the 7.0 we could build. We decided to make the unit with the 9700 tweeter. This added over $200 to our costs. We improved the wiring (more silver). We also upgraded the crossover using higher quality capacitors. We introduced the nOrh 9.0s which are now being called "the best two way speakers in the world". The nOrh 7.0s are then the second best. The 7.0s use a larger woofer. This gives them better power handling and efficiency. The 9.0 achieves deeper bass but it doesn't have the power handling of the 7.0. |

The 7.0 would be a logical choice for home theaters--particularly ones with subwoofers. The 7.0s would also work for applications where the volume would be consistently high. In most other respects, the 7.0 marble and 9.0 marble sound very much alike. For anyone who has already purchased wood 7.0s, we have a special upgrade package. Please write for details. We can upgrade using your existing 9300 tweeter or we can provide a new crossover and you can purchase the 9700 tweeter separately.
